I recently got my new H1-B approved (changed my status from H4 to H1). My H1-B is active from January 16,2012. I got a job offer, but the client insists on getting SSN before I could join work.
I applied for SSN and I am waiting since 2 weeks. The SSN officers say that it might take upto 4 weeks or more.
My payroll is not generated since I do not have SSN yet. Would this be a problem in maintaining my H1-B status?
What is the best thing I can do to avoid any problems?
